A GUIDE TO PICKING A WEDDING THEME

It’s no surprise that planning can be overwhelming with so much decisions to make for your wedding. Everyone wants their wedding to look amazing and it will look just that but there are few things you need to do. Choosing a theme should be one of the essential things on your to-do list.

Choosing a theme will help make your decision making very easy and smooth since everything from invitations, drink selection, decorations, gown etc. starts with your theme. All the other aspects of your wedding is based on the theme and when it all ties together, it gives the guest a great feeling.

With so many ideas out there, how do you choose the one that works for your day? Here are some tips and insight that will help you lock down the theme for the day.

CONSIDER THE VENUE

Let the venue serve as a source of inspiration. Your wedding venue plays a huge role in helping you select a theme. It sets the tone and the overall aesthetic of the whole ceremony. You can’t have a tropical theme in a church building or a theme wedding on a beach in a five star hotel ball room. Get what I mean? Choosing the location for the wedding will give you a taste of how your wedding is going to look and feel.

GET PERSONAL

Your sense of style and personality can give you a great wedding theme. Take your creativity from your everyday life.  There’s no point in having a beach wedding, if you’re not a fan of sand. Consider the kind of mood you want to portray through your theme.

CREATE A MOOD BOARD

Another great way is to create a mood board of images that you like. You can find images from Pinterest, Instagram or other sites, print and pin them on or cardboard or use Photoshop to create a digital mood board. Seeing all these images together will help you decipher what kind of style you lean naturally to.

YOU DON’T NEED TO FOLLOW WHAT’S TRENDING

There’s always a new hot trend every year. You don’t have to pick the same theme because it’s in “style”. Everyone must be having a rustic theme but it doesn’t fully represent you and your partner. So at the end of the day follow what makes you happy and it will be the best trend for you.

YOU CAN ALWAYS HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER

If you’re stressed out with the idea of choosing a theme and planning the wedding, you can always hire a wedding planner.  A professional planner has experience in multiple wedding styles and would be of great help. Many planners do have mini-packages just for this moments.

DON’T GIVE UP

You may be struggling with choosing a theme but don’t give up. Whether it takes you weeks or months to get a theme, it’s okay. Choosing a theme means you will be able to choose the bridesmaids and groomsmen attire, decoration, invitation and venue. This all starts with a theme. Take a moment if you’re stressed and look around for inspirations.
